My Approach

My Approach as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

As a psychotherapeutic counselor, I draw on a blend of therapeutic approaches to support individuals and couples in their healing and growth. My approach is integrative, meaning I tailor my work to suit your unique needs and experiences. Three core frameworks guide my practice: person-centered therapy, trauma-informed care, and couples therapy.

  1. Person-Centered Therapy
At the heart of my practice is person-centered therapy, which emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic relationship. I believe that you, as the client, are the expert of your own life. My role is to create a warm, non-judgmental space where you feel truly heard and understood. I offer empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard to help you explore your feelings and experiences, enabling you to access your inner resources for healing and growth.

  2. Trauma-Informed Care
I understand that trauma, whether from past experiences or ongoing challenges, can deeply impact a person’s emotional well-being, relationships, and sense of self. In my work, I prioritize creating a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable to explore difficult emotions or experiences. A trauma-informed approach means I respect your pace, honor your boundaries, and always work to avoid re-traumatizing you. I focus on empowering you, ensuring you feel in control of your healing process.

  3. Couples Therapy
In couples therapy, I support both partners in navigating the complexities of their relationship. Whether you are dealing with communication issues, trust concerns, or navigating major life transitions, I work with you to improve understanding, empathy, and connection. I help couples identify patterns that may be causing conflict and support you in developing healthier, more effective ways of relating to one another. I use tools and techniques designed to foster mutual respect, active listening, and collaboration, allowing both individuals to feel heard and supported.

This integrative approach provides a holistic and flexible framework for addressing your individual or relationship challenges. Whether you are seeking to heal from past trauma, improve communication in your relationship, or simply explore and understand your emotional world, my approach will be tailored to support your personal journey toward healing and self-discovery.

I am an Accredited Member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society, I also hold a currrent enhanced DBS check.
